Caña is a well established rum bar in the heart of Downtown LA. They have the 2nd largest collection of rum on the west coast, live Cumbia music, and fun vibes all around. The bar has been around for over ten years now and they were looking for a little upgrade to their brand. They are one of a family of bars in the Los Angeles owned by Pouring With Heart. The other bars in the group all had animal icons in their branding and the companies one request was that Cana would as well. Taking from the already well established vibes we decided the best animal to represent such a lively carribean style venue was the macaw. Macaw’s are known for being intelligent, social birds that often gather in flocks of 10 to 30, their loud calls, squawks, and screams echo through the forest canopy. After defining the Macaw as the center of the brands identity we then built out a fun and festive branding package with bright colors and influences from the Caribbean. As an abundance of rum is sourced from the Carribean region this gave the brand some historical reference as well as keeping the festive spirit.
